TEXAS RECOGNIZED DISTRICT
Located in North central Hays County, the Hays Consolidated
Independent School District serves over 209 square miles. Parts of
the district extend into southeastern Travis County and into western
Caldwell County. The district currently has 17 campuses. Student
enrollment in January 2007 reached an all time high with 11,957
students. Hays Consolidated ISD is considered a fast growth school
district and district officials expect more than 12,500 students by
August 2007.

Recognized District Addresses Growth
 The Hays Consolidated I.S.D. is
a recognized, exemplary district by TEA . It is a rapidly
growing district.
Sixty-five percent of Hays High
School students take SAT or ACT exams, and 60 percent of the school's
graduates are accepted to college. Students have access to a wide
variety of career and technology courses from networking and business
computer information systems to electronics and graphic design.
Every campus has at least one certified librarian, certified counselor,
and full-time registered nurse. Every classroom has Internet access.
The district provides special education support for students who
need assistance and Advanced Placement courses for students who show
aptitude. The Hays CISD also offers extensive academic and athletic
extra curricular activities. Both individual students and teams
successfully compete at the highest level of competition.
More than half of the teachers
in the Hays CISD have at least 10 years of experience in the profession.
The Hays CISD Induction and Mentoring Program provides each novice
teacher with a seasoned mentor who acts as a guide and resource and has been
recognized as one of the finest in the state.
