benefiting Big Brothers Big Sisters
Saturday, March 5, 2011
at Sunset Lanes (1304 Hwy 123)

During this bowl-a-thon, individuals from all over the community form teams of five and raise pledges to help Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) match more kids with caring, committed mentors. This culminates with a free bowling party to say thank you to our participants for all their hard work.

How many people are on a Team? Teams consist of a maximum of 5 bowlers – so if you are the Captain, you can recruit up to 4 friends to register and bowl with you.

Is there a minimum amount I need to raise (or my Team)? Each team, no matter how many bowlers, must raise $500. The annual cost to match one Big and one Little is about $1,250 and we hope that your team will step up to this challenge. One way to do this is to ask 25 friends for $50.

How do I collect pledges and donations? You can collect cash and checks and bring them on the day you bowl, or mail them to our office at 1400 Tillery Street, Austin, Texas 78721. Please write “BFK Hays” and the bowlers name on each check, or include a pledge form. Pledge forms are available at www.bigmentoring.org/haysbfks. Credit card donations can be made online, or we can bill for pledges over $10.

How do I register to participate? Register now by visiting the BFK website (www.bigmentoring.org/haysbfks), click the “register here” button, and complete the form. You will be guided through the registration process.

Once your transaction is complete, you will receive a confirmation email. If you prefer to register offline, please call Kate at 512-807-3615.

Is there a registration deadline? What about substitutions? We prefer that all team members register before the event. The team captain must be registered by Thursday, March 3. Last minute substitutions are allowed and will be processed during check in.

How can my business or company sponsor the event? We welcome all support from businesses and companies—they help to underwrite the event-ensuring that the funds bowlers raise go directly to our mentoring programs. Companies that become sponsors benefit from the publicity and marketing done for Bowl for Kids. If your company is interested, please contact Kate at 512-807-3615.

What time do I bowl? The event is scheduled from Noon – 5 p.m. on March 5. Please call or email Kate at 512-807-3615, kgarrett@bigmentoring.org in order to schedule your 2 hour time slot.

What happens when I come to bowl? Arrive at Sunset Lanes and check in at the table in the entryway. (There will be two check-in areas, one for checking in with money and one for checking in without money.) There, you will get your lane assignment. Then, pick up your shoes and stop by the t-shirt and door prize table on your way to your lane.
